the mudflap that broke off a mile before turning into Champoeg campground last fall.\u00a0 I had to tie wrap it up so It wasn&#8217;t dragging on the asphalt or getting pulled under the front tire of our tow car till we could get to the campground.\u00a0 I took it all the way off of the mudflap while camping there and made a note to replace it once we got home.\u00a0\u00a0 I looked at a friends mudflat to see how it differed.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t have the angle iron and his mudflap was being ground down significantly on the sides like my sacrificial angle iron looked. \u00a0 I decided I would rather the unseen steel be ground off instead and\u00a0 I bought some angle steel at Industrial Metals when we got back to San Diego.\u00a0 I drilled the required holes using the mud flap as a template and bolted it back on.\u00a0 I also cut up a piece of flat stock to be the wear points at each end of the mud flat so I don&#8217;t wear down the plastic and then the expensive stainless logo. \u00a0 The top left photo shows the angle after attaching it and the one below and to the right shows on the the sacrificial steel plates I added to both sides. \u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/IMG_0170_1671835823250.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-9765\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3M6mLQZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shackles<\/a> to hang it as the originals were not really the correct type for this application, they had threads where the chain hung.\u00a0 The new ones only have the threads where they screw into the shackle\u00a0 as its supposed to be, and the part the chain rests on are solid steel (a lot stronger).\u00a0 They were 5\/16&#8243; x 3\/4 inch and can lift 1.5 tons.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Spring2023MODS019.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" 1008w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>I installed new MCD shades in the cockpit area so we could donate the curtains.\u00a0 They were sill usable, but were just too ugly to keep anymore and we really wanted easily deploy-able sun shades.\u00a0 All the roller shades are now installed.\u00a0 The windshield ones were a much harder install than all the others combined.\u00a0 Basically working above and behind you is not a very fun thing.\u00a0\u00a0 I found that buying the MCD roller shades thru Camping World around Black Friday is significantly cheaper than buying them anywhere else.\u00a0 And of course that means you must install them yourself.\u00a0\u00a0 They are not hard to install, except the windshield ones.<\/p>\n<p>Two of my rooftop Solar panels went Kaput this year so I contacted the seller and they refunded the cost of the two panels (5 years old).\u00a0 That was so easy it was amazing to me.\u00a0\u00a0 Turns out they don&#8217;t make that panel anymore but I was able to get two NOS from a seller on Walmart.\u00a0 And I was able to use a sharp putty knife to remove the old panels.\u00a0\u00a0 We are back putting out the amp&#8217;s again!\u00a0\u00a0 Just in time for Boondocking @ Escapade this spring.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Spring2023MODS006.jpg\"><img pretty ugly.\u00a0 A new one was ~$400 so I opted for a used one.\u00a0 (no use buying a new one for a very old AC as the new AC when needed,\u00a0 comes with a new cover)\u00a0 $80 from a place out in El Cajon.\u00a0\u00a0 Its installed and looks much better now.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Spring2023MODS065.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dimmer<\/a>, which wouldn&#8217;t do anything with the existing LED&#8217;s in the fixture.\u00a0 I then purchased two small <a href=\"https:\/\/m4products.com\/alplate-24-5630-nw-natural-white-double-aluminum-plate\/?aff=42\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Small stick on 24 bulb lamps<\/a> at M4products and wired them in to the\u00a0 dimmer, now they are controllable. Nice!<\/p>\n<p>Diamond Shield Install.\u00a0 Had an installer come out and install the diamond shield.\u00a0 He made it look easy, but I could never have gotten that installed.\u00a0 It looks good, but I probably wouldn&#8217;t have it installed again.\u00a0 It was pretty pricey for what you actually get.<\/p>\n<p><a it.<\/p>\n<p>Pulling a few Ethernet cables from the front to the rear bay in the bus had been needed for a long time. \u00a0 \u00a0 I put that off for years and finally bit the bullet and did it.\u00a0\u00a0 What a PIA.\u00a0\u00a0 But its working well.<\/p>\n<p>Installed some gutter over the windshield and over the drivers window. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3pmPEQg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stick on Gutter <\/a>\u00a0We had put them on years ago after a buddy told me about how it keep the windshield a lot cleaner.\u00a0\u00a0 I had pulled them off prior to getting the bus painted.\u00a0\u00a0 This time I used white gutters instead of black so they blend into the new paint scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Also, I redid the new 400w solar suitcase infrastructure.\u00a0 The new wiring has been run and the breakers installed.\u00a0 We got to test them out at Escapade for 7 days of boondocking.\u00a0 They worked perfectly.\u00a0 Even in the wind, although I did have to tie them down using the D rings I had installed on them just prior to heading toward Tucson.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Spring2023MODS003.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-9877\" of the Vevor)\u00a0 These slides have 500 lbs capacity.\u00a0 The tray itself is made from some scrap 3\/4&#8243; plywood I had in the garage.<\/p>\n<p><a $125 and bought a new Lenovo 10&#8242; tablet for $110 that has been working great as a Navigation device.\u00a0 Finally something larger than a phone to look at while driving down the
