{"id":2115,"date":"2017-08-04T17:05:08","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T00:05:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/?p=2115"},"modified":"2017-08-04T17:05:08","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T00:05:08","slug":"drummond-island-ho-hum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/2017\/08\/04\/drummond-island-ho-hum\/","title":{"rendered":"Drummond Island..  ho hum.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/DeTourVillage009.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2113\" src=\"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/DeTourVillage009-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/DeTourVillage009-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/DeTourVillage009-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>We decided to check out Drummond island the next day which was via the ferry from De Tour Village.\u00a0\u00a0 Turns out they charge for the car and for the passengers.\u00a0\u00a0 $14 round trip.\u00a0\u00a0 The route to the island is short but is on the main north\/south channel from Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, so the ferry dodged a large ore carrier that was really moving south toward Lake Michigan.\u00a0 There is no other way to the island,\u00a0 no bridge or causeway.\u00a0 And after getting over there and driving around for an hour or so, I see why.\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s a large island with no <a href=\"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/DeTourVillage008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2112\" src=\"http:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/DeTourVillage008-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/DeTourVillage008-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cowlesmountain.com\/Travels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/DeTourVillage008-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>town and lots of long roads leading seemingly no where.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We were not very impressed.\u00a0 We had wanted to try a Mexican restaurant there, but it was closed on Mondays.<\/p>\n<p>While we were there, Chris texted us that he was on his way to San Diego to drop off all his worldly possessions as he was moving out of his school apartment at 1111 Wilshire Blvd. \u00a0and then the next morning was on a flight to Europe for three weeks, so we headed back to the coach to walk him thru fixing some issues caused by a blackout in our neighborhood last month and also help him get the garage door opened so he could unload his stuff into the garage.\u00a0 I had powered down most of the house and bolted shut the garage door so it could not be opened from the outside.<\/p>\n<p>He was able to fix everything that had stopped working and then headed toward the U-haul return facility so he could catch the train back to LA!<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday morning we were headed toward Gaylord Michigan to have the fridges sensor fixed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We decided to check out Drummond island the next day which was via the ferry from De Tour Village.\u00a0\u00a0 Turns out they charge for the car and for the passengers.\u00a0\u00a0 $14 round trip.\u00a0\u00a0 The route to the island is short but is on the main north\/south channel from Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, so the &hellip;
